Marathon Madness: Second race of 12 completed in Exeter

The 12 Marathons Challenge is in full swing as Emma Preston, Regional Manager for GPEA, and Clint Nykamp from Fine & Country Solihull, completed their second race.

The pair aim to raise at least £1,000 per race; click here to donate to Emma and Clint’s mammoth challenge.

Highlights from the Exeter Marathon
From 10,000 runners last month in Brighton to fewer than 400 in Exeter. Emma and Clint experienced a completely different atmosphere from the Brighton Marathon as they raced in Exeter on Sunday 20th May.

What the race lacked in numbers, they made up for in spirit…

Emma
Race time: 6 hours 1 minute
“The course was much flatter than the Brighton Marathon, which we ran on Sunday 15th April.

“It was a lovely course, through beautiful parks and paths, with lots of shade which I was incredibly thankful for as temperatures approached 24 degrees. I’m so pleased I ran over half an hour faster than my first race and now feel strong and positive for the next one in Somerset on Sunday 10th June.

“Cheering crowds held signs saying ‘Go Em’ with directions and miles ran. It made a huge difference to my mental strength for each lap, so if anyone is free to join Clint and me in Somerset on Sunday 10th June, we’d love to see you.”

Clint
Race time: 5 hours 49 minutes
“Running through woods and along rivers made this a particularly special day out. I ran 10 minutes faster than Brighton which is great. I would really like to beat my time again in the next race.

“It was really strange running laps with so few participants compared to the Brighton Marathon. It was good that I knew what was coming up, but confusing to know how far we had left to go.”

Next race:
Join us in Yeovil, Somerset on Sunday 10th June for the third race in our 12 Marathons Challenge.
