Hidden Treasures: Northampton Jumble Sale Success

Hidden Treasures: Northampton Jumble Sale Success

On Saturday 9th September, Fine & Country Northampton held their ‘Leftover Luxuries’ jumble sale at All Saints Church. The town centre was bustling with locals and tourists to celebrate their National Heritage Day and find leftover luxuries.

It was a cold and windy day, but the crowds gathered nonetheless. All types of items were donated and sold, including a full set of Disney cuddly dwarves in pristine condition, beautiful silverware and china and a variety of games. Clothes were the most popular item as an array of vintage and labelled fashion was on display.

In addition to the jumble items, our Northampton team gathered 10 fantastic prizes for the raffle. The most sought after prize was the Fortnum & Mason’s hamper, closely followed by several bottles of champagne, books from Waterstones, a pearl bracelet from a local jeweller and a potted rose from the local florist.

Virginia Orchard from Fine & Country Northampton said, “It was a really worthwhile experience and a great day out. We are so grateful to the local community and church for their support in helping the day run smoothly and successfully.”

The event was orchestrated to fulfil two purposes; the first was to engage the local community which was accomplished due to donations from the local businesses and the influx of attendants to the National Heritage Day. The second objective of the jumble sale was to raise awareness and donations for homelessness. Proceeds will go to Northampton Hope Centre, a local homeless charity which has been running for over 40 years.

We are delighted to announce that the ‘Leftover Luxury’ jumble sale raised £263. £26.30 will be donated to All Saints Church who kindly provided the venue for free. The remaining £236.70 to be donated to Northampton Hope Centre. The proceeds will enable to organisation to provide hot food, clean clothes, workshops and much-needed support.

Tanya Haji-Miller, Community Fundraiser at Northampton Hope Centre said,“We are so grateful to Fine and Country for hosting a fantastic Leftover Luxuries’ jumble sale to raise a brilliant amount of money for the Hope Centre. The money raised will go towards helping  those less fortunate in our community. Thank you to everyone who attended – I hope you picked up a hidden treasure while supporting the work we do.”

Fine & Country Northampton have plans to host another jumble sale due to the success and enthusiasm from their first one. They will be collecting all varieties of items, with a preference on clothing. Do you have something which you no longer use that could do with a second home?
