The very first time I walked into this house I felt as if I was in Texas. It was absolutely brilliant. It ticked all the boxes and a great many more. I walked around I can remember thinking how completely perfect it was for us; it was a no brainer.” “We knew that we needed to do some work internally,” continues Anthony, “but it had the bare bones and loads of potential.” “There was a huge, stone-clad fireplace in the living room that went right up to the ceiling,” says Patricia, “so that definitely had to go, and in the process made what was already a very spacious room feel much bigger. We also put in a lovely new kitchen, new bathrooms, and skimmed and painted all of the walls. It’s now very neutral throughout, very minimalistic, and because the majority of the walls are painted white the

whole house is wonderfully light and bright.” “Even though it’s a very large house, we tend to use all of the space,” says Anthony, “but one of our favourite places is actually the large landing area.” “When the children were young we had a TV, video and beanbags up there so we could keep and eye and an ear on what they were watching,” says Patricia. “We now have large bookshelves and a couple of chairs there, and Anthony and I often just grab a book and sit quietly and read.” “The garden is also a lovely space,” continues Patricia. “It had been beautifully landscaped before we bought the house, so we have mainted its condition.
