Welcome to Orchard Cottage, a delightful and picturesque Grade II chocolate box cottage that pulls at your heart strings from the very first moment. There is something very quintessential about a thatched cottage, particularly when it is in the heart of the Cotswolds and specifically in the village of Broadway.
The beautiful and historic Cotswold village of Broadway is a memorable place and is perfect from which to tour the local area and enjoy the stunning walks. The pretty High Street is lined with horse chestnut trees and includes a mixture of period houses and picturesque honey coloured Cotswold stone cottages which have lured visitors for centuries. Often referred to as the `Jewel of the Cotswolds`, Broadway lies beneath Fish Hill on the western Cotswold escarpment, in the county of Worcestershire and close to the border of Gloucestershire.Broadway is just 2 hours from central London and is also within easy reach of such places as Stratford upon Avon with its Shakespeare Theatre, Warwick with the finest medieval castle in England, Regency Cheltenham, Oxford with its University Colleges, and Bath with its Roman Baths.
The current owners purchased the property in 2002 and during their ownership they have remodelled the property which includes the kitchen and bathroom being refitted in recent years whilst most recent works include a new thatch roof and flat roof in 2018
Inside the property is light and full of charm. A central living room offers an inglenook fireplace with a log burner inset, white washed beams and exposed stonework. Whereas the living room is in keeping with the age of the property, in contrast the kitchen/dining room is modern and contemporary yet the balance between the two works in perfect harmony. The kitchen offers cream units with a block wood work surface, a ceramic sink, brick effect tiling to the splash backs and a host of integral appliances. The room also offers double aspect windows and a door into the garden and as such is extremely light and offers the most delightful outlook.
The final room to the ground floor is the bathroom. Having been fitted in recent years, the room is fully tiled and offers a three-piece white suite. Moving upstairs, there are two bedrooms, the main bedroom overlooking the front elevation whilst the guest bedroom has an outlook over the garden.
Outside the garden is located to the rear and is over two levels. The first offers a paved terraced surrounded by flower bed inset into stone walls. The second raised section is predominantly lawned although there is a second seating area. Again, there are flower beds that surround the edge of the garden and these are mature and established and full of colour.
Orchard Cottage is a delightful cottage that potentially suits a variety of different buyers, from those looking to buy their first home, or perhaps those looking to buy a second home. It would also suit those who are downsizing, or it will be bought by someone who wishes to use the house as it is currently, a holiday home.
Directions Leave Cheltenham via Prestbury. Passing through the High Street at the mini roundabout take the 1st exit onto the B4632 and stay on this road for 8.4 miles. At the roundabout continue straight over and continue onto Broadway Road for a further 4.5 miles. Turn right onto Station Road and then at the roundabout take the 1st exit onto Leamington Road.
